Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to gather research that validates the importance of using primary sources to teach Wisconsin state history. Drawing on my experience as a classroom teacher, examples of experiential learning, and secondary research, I will demonstrate that primary sources bring history to life for students. Moreover, students who use primary sources improve in critical and analytical thinking. I hope that, in turn, students have a greater appreciation for and engagement with the communities in which they live.
