Artist Statement

Seasons is a series of four illustrations printed on cardstock representing the four seasons experienced in Wisconsin. Although much of my work draws attention to environmental issues and injustices, this piece signifies the beauty and elegance of Wisconsin wildlife. Each illustration features a native Wisconsin bird that is recognized statewide as a symbol of that respective season. The birds sit perched on a background that represents the transition of nature through winter, spring, summer, and fall. I chose to utilize negative space, a muted color palette, and varying textures within the designs to create a rustic and nostalgic experience.

My long-term goal for my work is to continue pushing boundaries and developing solutions to design problems while also focusing on passion pieces that investigate environmental issues that threaten the natural beauty and resources of Wisconsin.
