Abstract
The command to love God, neighbor and self takes on new meaning when viewed through a Franciscan Christocentric lens. With the premise that Christ is at the center of the Trinity and creation, the Word made flesh becomes the icon of ordered self-love. Individuals comes to recognize their role in sharing the love first received from God with others and with themselves as a way of living out their discipleship. It is in the acceptance of the disciple to join the loving action of the Triune God through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit that one is able to love selflessly and in a holy, ordered way.
