Abstract
This thesis reviews practical theology and applies it to welcoming, assimilating, and engaging new members in the parish. The work of practical theology is collecting information from sources such as sociology, church teaching, and others in the theological field. Applying the collected wisdom to a specific situation can lead to change of action and thought. To better welcome newcomers at the parish, we might begin with an information class before registration, a personal interview at registration, and then, offer opportunities to meet other parishioners and mentors. In these meetings, we can encourage joining a small group, giving of self in service, and becoming a missionary disciple of Jesus.
