Composer Biography
Fr. Matthias Vanden Elsen was born in Holland, vested in Berne Abbey in 1888 and ordained a Norbertine priest in 1894. He immigrated to the United States in 1900, where he taught music at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin. He composed his first piece of sacred music in his new home around 1902 and continued composing throughout his lifetime. He died on July 8, 1957.
