San Francisco Symphony Foundation's Gala Spring Members' Concerts: Double Entendre
Parmentier provided the following commentary on his performance, "Music, if it is to be meaningful, should portray an experience or emotion felt at the time it was written and which can in turn be relayed to others. This short work had its inception in a jazz palace in San Francisco. A beginning motif in the jazz idiom wailed by a trumpet and rhymed by a set of traps a perfunctory mood. This evolved into a more reflective, serious study. Finally, a complete denial of the original intention and gradual merger of the two opposing lines of thought. This the 'double entendre'."
