Artist Statement
I believe that images can oftentimes convey human emotions better than words. In my work, I utilize the form and expression of the human figure, hands, and facial features to objectively show emotions. I hope for people to be able to feel my art in the same way they read body language and cues. My goal is to create a space for the emotional quality of my work to resonate with the viewer.
My work is usually high in contrast, oftentimes black and white or with limited color, along with a rough, sketchy line quality to connect the emotion of a piece’s subject with its medium. The physical process of putting my emotions into my marks is key to creating the expressive resonance of each piece.
