Abstract
The New Evangelization has been the subject of a variety of ecclesial documents recently in the Catholic Church. Within them, appear to be three basic calls: to prayer; the Gospel; to relationship with Jesus. Could theological works from past theologians, be drawn upon as resources to evangelize these calls? A poem about the journey and height of holiness, The Living Flame of Love, by John of the Cross, is a valid resource to address these calls, and could serve as a reminder to us, that the purpose of the Church ultimately, is to facilitate God’s love for his people.
