Abstract
A hospital chaplain plays an important role in helping to heal the sick, but their responsibility to attend to the spiritual needs of a hospital patient demands that they reconcile their professional responsibilities and religious beliefs with the religious beliefs and expectations of the patient. This thesis offers an example of how a chaplain from the Episcopal tradition can provide spiritual care to a Muslim patient and, specifically, how prayer could be provided as part of that treatment.
