Abstract
Restorative Justice, Ethics, and Dehumanization of God's children. by K. Michaud 2025.
My thesis explores the retaliatory nature of the U.S. judicial system regarding cannabis prohibition, and the need for restorative justice because minorities and abject citizens are targeted for punishment. Statistics show that many Americans have been arrested, imprisoned, and placed on probation for cannabis use. Cannabis is a natural plant created by God. The Christian faith teaches that God is loving, forgiving, and merciful. By contrast, the U.S. judicial system is retributive and dehumanizing. Dehumanization is an injustice against humanity. Prohibiting human use of a natural substance also conflicts with the American Constitution, which grants certain freedoms and liberties to its citizens. Christians should be restoring natural laws and protecting the sacred dignity of God’s children.
