Abstract

Abstract The goal of the thesis was to explore factors that contribute to designing theological instruction in a Catholic high school to mitigate the perception of science-faith conflict leading to loss of Catholic faith among youth. The thesis examines the impact of secularism on religious faith, Catholic theology of creation, the nature of science, the contribution of Medieval Catholic theology to the development of science, and the history of the relationship of the Catholic Church to science. An overview is given of adolescent developmental psychology, particularly faith development. Finally, promising approaches for educating for science-faith cooperation and dialogue are presented.
